President to confer Bharat Ratna upon Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will receive the Bharat Ratna award, India’s highest civilian honour, from President Paranab Mukherjee at his residence in Lucknow.

Vajpayee will be the seventh prime minister to receive the award, after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Morarji Desai, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Gulzarilal Nanda.

PM to inaugurate Urja Sangam
