Applications are invited only through online mode upto 09.01.2015 for Direct Recruitment to the vacancies for the year 2013-2014 in the following Post.

Scale of Pay : Rs.15,600- 39,100/- + Grade Pay Rs.5700/- (PB-3)

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:  (as on. 10.12.2014) 

Candidates should possess the following qualification on the date of this Notification:-

(a) (i) B.S.Sc.( Bachelor of Sanitary Science) degree of Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India or the Diploma in Public Health (2 years duration) of the University of Calcutta. OR

(ii) A certificate of having undergone a special course of training in Sanitary Science in the Medical Colleges, Madras for a period of not less than one year and of having passed the examination for Licentiate in Public Health held at the end of that course.

Explanation:- The B.S.Sc. Degree, Licentiate in Public Health and Diploma in Public Health Courses are Post Graduate qualifications
which are to be acquired after M.B.B.S or DMS or LMP and
that any person who does not possess M.B.B.S or DMS or
LMP is not eligible to apply for the post of Health Officer.
Provided that preference shall be given to candidates who possess the qualification specified in item (a) (i) above. Provided further that if fully qualified candidates as specified above are not available for
appointment to the post of Health Officer applications from candidates possessing the M.B.B.S Degree of any University or Institution recognized by Medical Council of India or
from candidates possessing the diploma of Medicine and Surgery or the Diploma of LMP granted by the Board of Examiners, Medical College, Madras will be considered for selection subject to the following conditions:-

(i) Candidates so selected should undergo an Orientation course in Public Health for a period of three months before they are appointed as Health Officers. During the period they undergo the Orientation course, they will be paid the minimum in the time scale of pay of Health Officer and dearness allowance admissible under the rules.

(ii) They should acquire the Public Health Qualification within a period of four years from the date of their appointment. During the period they undergo the course for acquiring the Public Health qualification they will be allowed to draw minimum pay and

allowances for the post of Health Officer .They will be exempted from all tuition fees and examination fees due to the Government.

(iii) The period of the course of training for acquiring the Public Health Qualification will be allowed to be counted for the purposes of increment and pension but not for probation of the candidates concerned.

(iv) Before joining the course for acquiring the Public Health Qualification, the candidates should execute a bond undertaking to serve the Government for a minimum period of ten years.

(v) Candidates will not be deemed to have satisfactorily completed their probation and will not be entitled to appointment as full members of the service until they acquire the Public Health Qualification. If they fail to acquire the said qualification within the said period of four years, their probation will be terminated and they will be discharged from service.

b) PRIVATE PRACTICE:- Health Officers are not allowed to engage themselves in private practice after appointment.
