Solution to ‘Something Happened’ Problem While Installing Microsoft Windows 10
Microsoft, this time around, has worked on the Windows 10 OS, the Windows 10 Mobile OS, the Windows 10 for Surface devices, as well as Window 10 Compatibility support for the XBOX. I searched for “windows 10 upgrade failed 80240020″ on Google and have read a number of posts, but I can’t seem to figure out how to make this work.
Here is a cheat sheet on how to cut to the front of the upgrade line and avoid any software hiccup headaches while upgrading to Windows 10. As such, I’ll explain two methods on how to fix error 80240020 properly – step-by-step, and in simple English. In the meantime, many users that tried the new OS were taken aback by a silly, unhelpful error message. Your computer is about to create a bootable drive with Windows on it, then download the drivers you need so you can still use your keyboard, trackpad or mouse. Some of the albums are generated automatically, such as the ones with screenshots, or for the photos you have edited.
Go to Microsoft’s website and download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (32 or 64 bit installer), depending on the “System Type” output from the previous step. If you haven’t already updated, you might want to look out for the update that should have landed by now on your system.
Next, open up the Windows Update app by hitting theWindows key and simply searching for “Windows Update“. There’s a fancy new browser called Edge, and a new app switcher Mac users are sure to find familiar.
There are likely workarounds for these issues, but the best course of action for those who want Windows 10 on a Mac right now is probably just to wait for better solutions, or sit tight with Windows 8.1.
The first thing are Windows 10 open houses every Saturday in August (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th) that will be held at every Best Buy store from 11 AM to 1 PM (stores local time). From then on, Windows will whisk you through the initial setup screens.
If after Windows Update runs, you still receive Windows 10 Error Code 80240020, proceed to Option #2. In other words, don’t create the Windows 10 install media and reboot your computer and do a clean install as this will not retain your free license. No literally, the error message people are receiving says “Something Happened”, talk about the most unhelpful error message ever. On the proceeding page, select USB flash drive (if you have at least an 8GB flash drive), or ISO if you want to burn it to DVD.
Click on the Install Windows option.
You can also download maps for offline use on your system.
If you have Windows 10 on CD, you’ll have to do exactly the same, but the installer running Windows 10 from your current version of Windows. Thereafter, you can download region-wide maps based on your location.
Got a Computer Question or Problem?
Think about how much space you’ll need for your longterm needs, as the only way to adjust this later is to erase the partition and install the operating system all over again.
