have qualified for their third Indian Premier League (IPL) final as they beat theChennai Super Kings (CSK) by 25 runs in the Qualifier 1 at the Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 188 to win, CSK started well, but then crumbled in the middle. At the half-way mark, they were 86 for two with Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis in the middle. Raina started off well and du Plessis was looking in good touch. At the same stage in their innings, MI were 86 for no loss and that showed that there was  not much to loose. In came Harbhajan Singh and turned the match in MI’s favour quite drastically.

En route their third entry to the summit round after 2010 and 2013, Mumbai Indians scored 187 for six largely due to the brilliant cameo from Kieron Pollard who smashed a 17-ball-41 on the platform laid by Lendl Simmons’ 65 off 51 balls.

In reply, CSK’s much vaunted line-up could muster only 162 in 19 overs as none of the top-order batsmen went onto play a match-winning knock.

Mumbai Indians scored 187 for six against Chennai Super Kings in the first Qualifier of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, here today.

For MI, Lendl Simmons scored 65 off 51 balls with help of three fours and five sixes while Parthiv Patel hit 35. Kieron Pollard chipped in with 41 off only 17 balls with five sixes and a boundary.

MS Dhoni: “We were looking to bowl first, it is generally a very good wicket here, outfield is not that big and any score can be chased down. Well it can’t get any better than this, points table reflect how well, we have done in the tournament. Being consistent gives you the advantage in the play-off. There is always a fond memory of 2011 World Cup final. We have couple of changes. McCullum is not available, DR Smith comes in place for him. Mohit Sharma is back for Ishwar Pandey.”

Rohit Sharma: “We are going bat first, looks a good wicket and we know this wicket very well. We have that winning momentum with us. Here is an opportunity to put up a good show. It feels really good to be back at home, coming back here is always great. Guys have started taking responsibility; Everybody has put up little little performance which has helped the team to reach this stage. We are playing with the same side.”
