The happiness of Mumbai Indians’ fans knows no bounds these days as their favourite team is performing extremely well. The team is back to its winning ways. At the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, MI registered their fifth successive win by defeating Chennai Super Kings by six wickets. After restricting Chennai Super Kings to 158/5, Mumbai Indians chased the total in an exciting manner. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the match.

MS Dhoni and Pawan Negi’s partnership: Dhoni’s CSK won the toss and elected to bat first. Brendon McCullum gave CSK a good start by hitting a quick 23. He was even dropped by Harbhajan on 11, but McCullum couldn’t cash in on the opportunity and got out to Vinay Kumar. The team lost its momentum. However, CSK bounced back as captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni took charge and batted brilliantly. He (MS Dhoni 39* off 31 balls) along with Pawan Negi, combined for a 54-run stand in just 4.3 overs to help CSK to 158 for 5.

Hardik Pandya’s three sixes: When it came to Mumbai Indians’ batting, the opening pair of Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel gave a thundering start. Together they scored an 84-run stand for the opening wicket in just 10.1 overs. However, CSK’s Ashwin Kumar brought the team back in the game by taking wickets of both the set batsman in one over. Mumbai Indians’ wickets kept falling and just when it felt that the game was going to CSK, Ambati Rayudu and Hardik Pandya took charge. Ambati Rayudu, who has been consistently performing, remained unbeaten on 34 off 19 balls. But it was 21-year-old Hardik Pandya’s three sixes in the 19th over that stole the show and took his team home by three balls remaining. He scored 21 off 8 balls.
