Indrani Mukerjea Lawyers file urgent appeal to meet her
Indrani Mukerjea’s lawyer has filed an urgent appeal for the CBI Magistrate asking for urgent permission to be granted to meet the patient.The lawyer of Indrani Mukerjea, who is admitted in Mumbai’s JJ Hospital, has filed an urgent appeal before the CBI Magistrate asking for permission to meet her in hospital.
Lawyers want to ascertain from Indrani, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, what led to her hospitalisation. They want to know Indrani’s version on whether this was a case of attempted suicide as is being insinuated by the doctors or a case or wrong and excessive prescription of medicines.
On Saturday morning, the jail authorities had refused to allow Indrani’s lawyer Gunjan Mangla to meet her in the hospital. Jail staff asked the lawyer to get court permission if she wanted to meet her client. Indrani’s lawyer had said that the matter was urgent and that she should be immediately allowed to meet Indrani. A decision over the plea is expecting shortly.
Former media magnate Indrani Mukerjea is in a semi conscious state and will have to remain for next three days in hospital where she was rushed after suspected drug overdose, a senior doctor said on Saturday.
Indrani was rushed to JJ hospital from Arthur-road jail on Friday afternoon in an unconscious condition after she allegedly overdosed on anti-epileptic pills. Lahane said Indrani’s stomach wash has been collected and will be sent for forensic analysis to conclusively determine if she consumed the drugs.

“There is a possibility that she collected the pills and consumed them all at once. She came to us in an unconscious state. She has also developed respiratory distress,” the doctor said.
