Indian Government Is Launching Its Own Operating System Replacing Microsoft Windows

Indian government is all set to release a new and improved version of theoperating system (OS), named Bharat Operating System Solutions or BOSS this month.According to reports, the Indian government will launch the latest version of BOSS to replace Microsoft Windows and all other OSs in future.

The new OS, developed by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), will be unveiled to all government stakeholders this week.The new OS is believed to have been launched to overcome the vulnerabilities that exist in government cyberspace resulting in a number of countless attacks by hackers.

BOSS, which is a linux distribution, is developed with the help of Gujarat Technical University, DRDO and some other private computer manufacturers.

Initially developed in 2007 by National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) of India, this OS is a free and open source operating system. The latest version of BOSS was released in 2013, after that it is said to have undergone many changes to fit the process.
