The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy was unveiled at a South Delhi mall on Friday as a part of its six-city tour ahead of the tournament that begins in Christchurch on February 14, 2015.

Models carrying the flags of the 14 participating nations walked past the trophy before VJ Anusha Dandekar walked in as the show-stopper and unveiled the prize that the countries will be playing for.

Shoppers at the mall got a chance to see the trophy from up close and posed for photographs with it. Cricket crazy fans were dying to get a chance to lift the trophy but had to settle for a selfie.

The buzz for the tournament has clearly started with those present discussing the list of probables that was released recently.

Australian batsman Phil Hughes was also on many people’s mind as they demonstrated the pull shot and discussed how the injury happened while waiting for the event to start.

However, some were disappointed as they had come expecting the event to be more about cricket. Ravi Singhal, a passionate cricketer, commented: “I found it strange that there was not a single cricketer present at the event. It was about models and the trophy. Not about the sport.”

Anusha Dandekar who had the privilege of unveiling the trophy said that she got the chance last World Cup to watch the final live in Mumbai and feel the joy of India lifting the trophy. She got the shoppers at the mall to join her in wishing the team all the best.
