Farmer Carries Out Sting Operation To Expose Lekhpal Who Demanded Rs 3 Lakh Bribe
Agra.fter a government clerk allegedly asked for Rs 3 lakh bribe for releasing the compensatory fund for the acquired land to develop CM Akhilesh Yadav’s ambitious project of Greenfield Expressway from Agra to Lucknow, a farmer conducted a sting operation on the lekhpal, who is seen taking money for the release of fund in the video.
The matter is related to Fatehabad tehsil of Agra district. Identified as, Neeraj Kumar, the farmer had 16 Bigha land in Khasra No. 911 in Nevli kalan, out of the total land state government acquired 6.25 bigha. The land was uneven but attached to link road of Agra-Lucknow Greenfield Expressway.
Neeraj sought compensation but concerned lekhpal, Rajendra Prasad demanded bribe and on being denied bribe, the lekhpal counted on shortcomings in land being acquired.
Speaking to TOI, farmer Neeraj Kumar said, “Lekhpal asked for amount of five lakh but settled for three lakh to award the compensation and measure the remaining land. In lieu of money to be paid, the lekhpal assured to exhibit land attached to link road which results in compensation calculated on rate Rs 22 lakh per bigha otherwise it had remained on Rs 16 lakh per bigha.
On settled date of payment, Neeraj paid the amount to lekhpal Rajendra Prasad but prepared a video through sting operation. The video went viral exposing misdeed of lekhpal who was shown receiving the amount.
Neeraj said, “This is multi-crore scam of land. I’m not the only victim, all the farmers whose land were acquired in the Fatehabad tehsil had been asked heftier bribe. This whole thing is being controlled by Teshildar Vijendar Singh. If probe is conducted fairly, other officials and staff involved would also be exposed in the matter.
When contacted, District Magistrate of Agra, Pankaj Kumar, said, “We have suspended the accused lekhpal and a team under the leadership of SDM Fatehabad J P Singh is going to probe the matter and charges levied against Teshildar Vijendar Singh.”
“Proper action would be taken after the enquiry report submitted’ stated DM.
