The Delhi Police is planning to file a charge sheet against 21 AAP MLAs, including CM Arvind Kejriwal, against whom criminal cases were registered in various police stations of the Capital. The party has reacted saying that the NDA government was using the issue, through the Delhi Police, to divert attention from the Sushma Swaraj row. “Delhi Police is acting against us, but what about the BJP leaders with criminal charges against them?” asked AAP leader Sanjay Singh at a press conference held on Wednesday.

As per police report, there are three cases against Mr Kejriwal. A total of 48 cases were registered against party MLAs, of which a compromise was reached in one while another was declared untraced. In two cases, the accused were acquitted. As many as 20 cases are pending trial, while 24 others are being investigated. AAP’s Kondli MLA faces serious charges of cheating and molestation as per the FIRs registered against him, while Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel is accused of rioting and beating up workers, after forcibly entering a building and claiming he had kept liquor at the property for a BJP candidate.

“Sushma Swaraj clears Lalit Modi, someone who is accused in fraud. How come nobody is arresting Mr. Modi? Forget immorality, this is treason. She should not only resign, but also be arrested,” said AAP leader Raghav Chadha. “The cases against AAP leaders are mostly regarding protests,” said another AAP leader. The cases against the CM pertain to holding demonstrations and preventing public servants from performing their duty. Even Manish Sisodia, has been booked for participating in protests at Rail Bhawan.
