2 Delhi women gangraped by five men in Goa
2Delhi-based women were allegedly gang-raped and assaulted by five men, who posed as officers of the anti-narcotics cell of police, at a flat in Anjuna beach village in North Goa, police said today.
According to the police, the five accused impersonating as policemen approached the victims aged 34 years and 20 years and their male friend, aged 29 years while they were at Calangute on June 1 evening. The accused then hurled them in a car and locked them in an apartment where they allegedly sexually assaulted them and even robbed them off of their belongings.
The accused were identified as Travor Joseph, Jeevan Pawar, Kamlesh Chowdhary, Ajay Kumar Khushwa and Nadim Sayyed. were arrested on June 2. The charge of gangrape was slapped on Wednesday after their medical report confirmed sexual assault of the victims.
“On June 1st around 8.45pm, the five accused approached the victims as policemen from CID and Narcotics cell of the Goa police. They confined the trio in a room at Ivy Retreat at Khobrawaddo in Calangute until June 2 morning. There they slapped, kicked and also assaulted the victims with wooden sticks. The women were also sexually abused and the accused even took away their mobile phones. They also took the ATM card of the male friend and demanded Rs. 1.50 lakh for their release,” a police officer said.
Acting on source based information, the police raided the apartment on June 2 evening and rescued the women. “All the accused and the victims were traced at the apartment on June 2 evening. The accused were placed under arrest,” he added further.
